Director of Business Development (Jacob Stern & Sons, Inc. d/b/a Acme-Hardesty Co.):

Build and grow the business by developing strategic relationships with key suppliers in select target markets. Find and develop new suppliers and business opportunities to expand the oleochemical portfolio and market coverage. Duties include:

1) Develop innovative, sustainable ingredients and solutions for our customers;
2) Execute a comprehensive business strategy for the businesses of Jacob Stern;
3) Evaluate new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures to create sustainable and profitable growth;
4) Deliver new business growth and product strategies, utilizing global and regional suppliers; identify attractive growth and alliance opportunities;
5) Perform market analysis; monitor competitive activity; and identify customer needs;
6) Provide leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives;
7) Build sales and technical sales capability to focus on the key growth opportunities;
8) Manage suppliers and customers and the end to end supply chain;
9) Build portfolio of products into the Poly Urethane marketplace;
10) Use market knowledge of amine technology and business to coach and grow our capability in this market;
11) Find and develop opportunities in the mature and developed Oleochemical market space via extensive connections and creative use of feedstocks;
12) Build from scratch with limited resources the capability to manage and develop each new business and product;
13) Interact with key Asian suppliers to grow relationship with them;
14) Define, refine, test and implement the output of the strategic planning process, which includes primary research, industry, market and competitive analysis, and customer needs assessment;
15) Help define the product roadmap in the long-, mid- and short-term.

Minimum Requirements:  

A Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Chemistry or related field plus five years of experience with the Amine marketplace and technical applications.

Experience must include the following, which may be gained concurrently:

1) 5 years of experience growing contribution through new business development in the chemical industry;
2) 5 years of experience managing a regional or global sales team to exceed targets to meet business goals;
3) 5 years of purchasing and sales experience in the chemical industry;
4) 5 years of manufacturing and supply chain experience;
5) 5 years of experience with the Oleochemical market and their feedstocks – C and Director Level contacts with the main Oleo producers;
6) 5 years of experience in start up of a new company/division;
7) 5 years of experience with the global purchasing of oleochemicals and oleochemical suppliers, including Asia; and,
8) 3 years of experience with the Poly Urethane marketplace.
