Available Positions:
Vice President, Global Sourcing at Jacob Stern & Sons, Inc., d/b/a Acme-Hardesty Co., Inc.:
- Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for all products to achieve best total value for the business, including:
- Identification, evaluation, and selection of preferred suppliers;
- Development and maintenance of strategic relationships with preferred suppliers;
- Development of new and alternative sources of supply (domestically and globally) as needed;
- Structuring of and negotiations with supplier contracts to reduce costs, mitigate risk, and ensure consistency with sourcing strategy;
- Monitoring and improving supplier performance in terms of delivery, quality, cost, and future potential;
- Responsible for direct reports’ alignment with Company objectives, professional development, and performance;
- Review markets to make recommendations for changes to sourcing strategy;
- Participate in the active control of inventory through cross-functional S&OP process, contributing to the effective management of working capital;
- Apply deep understanding of foreign currencies and markets to achieve best supply quality and value for the Company;
- 35% domestic and international travel required to develop partner and supplier relationships and gather market intelligence; and,
- May telecommute from any US location.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Chemistry, or a related technical field plus 3 years of post-baccalaureate experience in a chemical distribution or chemical manufacturing-related occupation.
In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Chemistry, or a related technical field followed by 5 years of post-baccalaureate experience in a chemical distribution or chemical manufacturing-related occupation.
Experience must include the following, which may have been gained concurrently:
- 3 years of experience in a sourcing role concerning global commodities;
- 3 years of experience developing and executing a global sourcing strategy;
- 3 years of experience successfully sourcing specialty chemicals valued at greater than $100,000,000;
- 3 years of experience with global currency influences on pricing and markets;
- 3 years of experience with the North American oleo-chemical market place;
- 3 years of experience with feed stocks in the palm, coconut, castor, soy, and tallow markets and the influence of agricultural conditions on those crops;
- 3 years of experience in the chemical market with fatty acids, fatty alcohols, glycerine, esters, preservatives, and surfactants.
